2) Agree with the legal blah blah blah
3) This is an uncalibrated demo--click "Done" on the calibration dialogue box.

Step 1

This free online demo can only be calibrated in an approximate manner, and
is therefore not a clinically accurate means of hearing assessment.

Your computer's soundcard needs to be plugged into some kind of amplifier
that has a volume control, such as into a mixing console or into a set of
desktop speakers that have a headphone jack (the jack must have its own
volume control). If you're using a laptop, it must have a manual volume
control [some do, others do not].

Plug your headphones into your amplifier, mixer or speaker's headphone jack.

To set up an approximate calibration, please follow these steps:
1) launch the Ear Q application
2) select the 500 Hz frequency with the Left ear
3) set the 500 Hz fader at "10"
4) adjust the manual volume control of your system until you can JUST BARELY
HEAR the 500Hz tone. Please adjust by using your mixing console's headphone
control, or desktop speakers' headphone volume control, or manual volume
control on your laptop.
5) DO NOT ADJUST THE MS MIXER UTILITY VOLUME

The assumption here is that even if you have moderate hearing loss in the
high frequencies, it is likely that you are still able to hear this 500 Hz
tone like everyone else. If you have doubts, have someone else with good
ears perform this calibration step.

Proceed with checking yourself out!

Please note that this demo has only tests 4 frequencies. The full software tests 16 points from 63hz to 20khz.

BIG WARNING: since the actual SPL levels delivered by your headphones can only be
accurate if the headphones are recognized by the software and the Ear Q Calibrator is used, this online demo can ONLY be used as a general introduction to the system. The data generated by the Demo will not be critically accurate.

Now that you're set up with an approximate calibration and operating level....

When the demo program launches and displays....

1) Using your mouse click on one of the four faders*.

2) Using your mouse or the up/down arrows, move the faders up until you can hear the tone

3) Slowly bring the fader down until the tone vanishes..

4) Move the fader back up to the last level that the tone could be heard.

5) Repeat 1-4 for the other three faders.

6) click on <Display results as Audiogram> to see your hearing curve.

7) Click on <Suggested EQ settings> to view suggested eq settings at various listening levels.

* For non-engineers, that's the long, up and down sliders
